15 Things Every Writer Knows

Just finished doing #5 and feel amazing about it. When I was little, I’d get in equal amounts of trouble with Mum for playing too much gameboy or reading into my bed time. On to a new book!

✎ Featured article: The 12 Common Archetypes

I always loved personality tests and seeing what someone else could teach me about myself. Well, our characters are human too (generally). Therefore, we can use these ‘archetypes’ to help with characterisation. It can be interesting to find out what type of core personality we created our characters with. It’s a good test to see what traditionally works. If it corresponds, you have a realistic character. On the other hand, this does not mean that there are only 12 unique characters in your story – if you do then you might be thinking too shallowly. Mix up the archetypes. The innocent rebel? I’d love to see how that turns out!

Big thanks to Writers Write for always sharing inspirational posts, and to Carl Golden for the original source.

Renovating!

It’s decided: this young blog is getting a makeover! This current theme requires more maintenance than I signed up for, with my busy uni life. Hopefully this blog will come out even better than before!

I’ll be trialling some changes tonight so if anyone stops by and catches me in the middle of them, check back another time. Thanks for bearing with my whims!
